Plagiarism Screening Policy

At Trends in Scholarly Publishing (TSP), we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. To ensure originality and safeguard against academic misconduct, all submitted manuscripts are subjected to plagiarism screening prior to editorial and peer review.

Screening Process

  • All manuscripts are checked using Turnitin plagiarism detection software.
  • The acceptable similarity index is below 15%, excluding quotations and references.
  • Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected.

Forms of Plagiarism

We consider the following practices to be plagiarism and therefore unacceptable:

  • Verbatim Plagiarism - Copying words or sentences from another source without proper citation.
  • Plagiarism of Ideas/Source Plagiarism - Using ideas, arguments, or data from others without adequate acknowledgment.
  • Authorship Plagiarism - Claiming authorship of work that belongs to another individual.
  • Self-Plagiarism - Republishing one's own previously published work, in whole or in part, without significant modifications or acknowledgment. Authors may build upon prior work, but the new manuscript must present substantial new content and must properly cite earlier publications.

Editorial Action

  • Manuscripts that fail plagiarism screening will not proceed to peer review until adequately revised.
  • Repeated instances of plagiarism or unethical practices will result in rejection of the manuscript and may be reported to the author's institution.

By submitting a manuscript to TSP, authors confirm that their work is original, properly cited, and complies with the ethical standards of scholarly publishing.
