Archiving Policy
At Trends in Scholarly Publishing (TSP), we are committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and discoverability of all published content. To achieve this, we use a combination of professional digital preservation services and author-friendly self-archiving practices.
Digital Preservation
All published articles in TSP are digitally preserved through PORTICO , a trusted digital preservation service. In the unlikely event that the journal ceases publication, all published content will remain permanently accessible through PORTICO.
Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and metadata is regularly deposited with Crossref to ensure discoverability and interoperability across scholarly platforms. The version of record (VoR) available on the TSP website remains the definitive and citable version.
All archived content is preserved with its open access status intact under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) .
Self-Archiving
TSP encourages authors to maximize the reach and visibility of their work by depositing their articles in institutional or subject repositories, as well as on personal websites and academic networking platforms, provided proper attribution is given to TSP and the article's DOI is included.
Guidelines for Self-Archiving
- Preprints: Authors may deposit preprints on recognized preprint servers (e.g., arXiv , bioRxiv ) before or during submission. Preprints can later be updated with the accepted version after peer review.
- Postprints: Authors may deposit the accepted version (postprint) of their article in repositories and personal websites once the article is published. Postprints should not include the publisher's final layout or formatting.
- Embargo Period: TSP does not impose any embargo period on self-archiving. Authors should also verify compliance with funder or institutional requirements.
Required Citation and Attribution
When self-archiving, authors must:
- Provide the article's DOI and full citation (journal name, volume, issue, and page numbers).
- Include a link to the official published version on the TSP website.
- Add a statement acknowledging publication in Trends in Scholarly Publishing.
Example: "This is the accepted version of an article published in Trends in Scholarly Publishing. The final published version is available at: [DOI link]."
